About the Workplace

As a park worker, you will have a job characterized by both freedom and responsibility. You work independently and in teams where you plan your day and take great responsibility for the execution of your tasks according to the applicable schedules. We work with the citizen in focus to deliver the best outdoor environment for the residents of Vaggeryd municipality. The job as a park worker requires good physical fitness, and we work outdoors in all weather conditions. There are about ten employees in the street-park department, which is part of the technical office in Vaggeryd municipality. The street-park department is responsible for planning, managing, and maintaining the municipality's public plantings, parks, playgrounds, streets, squares, nature reserves, and forests to create an attractive environment for residents and visitors.

Job Responsibilities

As a park worker, you will have a varied job where you will work with a range of tasks such as tree care, pruning, grass and hedge trimming, weeding, and planting. Your tasks will also include maintenance of playgrounds, cleaning, and street work such as winter road maintenance.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a high school education supplemented by a one-year gardening education or work experience that can be deemed equivalent. You preferably have several years of professional experience in park/gardening work and are familiar with machinery such as lawn mowers, string trimmers, compact loaders, and/or tool carriers. Experience in carpentry or other practical work involving repair and maintenance is an advantage. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability. We are looking for someone who is a team player and takes great personal responsibility. You are driven and proactive and work towards our set goals. Like our other employees, you have a strong work ethic and, of course, a good attitude towards the public and colleagues. A driver's license for manual transmission is required. Chainsaw licenses A and B are advantageous as well as good plant knowledge.
